2008:Green Dot Public Schools commissioned Arrowyn Ambrose to create a group performance for their fundraiser at the end of the school year. She experimented with the first group of High School students at Animo Venice with improvisational games, council, free writes and a public performance for over a hundred people. The first ever group theme was Deportation.
2010:Hollywood Heart commissions Arrowyn Ambrose to lead their creative writing program during their annual summer week long arts camp for kids and young adults impacted with HIV. It was a magical week that changed her life. The theme of that writing team was Kendall for President.
2012: After having her baby, Arrowyn returned to Hollywood Heart for their summer camp again. The theme of this group was F“ You, Death. It was a very powerful show.
2012: In conjunction with Hollywood Heart and The Young Storytellers Foundation, Arrowyn piloted Story Tribe at Hillsides Education Center in Pasadena with their 9th grade class. That particular group performed at The Pop Hop Bookstore in Highland Park after working together for 15 weeks. They were The Hero“s Journey. Story Tribe was born. Soon thereafter Arrowyn formed Story Tribe, LLC.
2012: Green Dot Public Schools commissions Story Tribe to create a performance in 5 weeks with a student representative from each one of their campuses for their All Day Green Dot Day. We created a performance meant to inspire over a thousand teachers, administrators and staff about why the work they do is so important.
2013: Hillsides Education Center contracts Story Tribe for their senior class, with a preliminary Fall program culminating in a school performance in December. That Story Tribe was We Are Warriors. Hillsides brought Story Tribe back for the Spring semester commissioning them to create a graduation piece.
2014: (current) Hillsides Education Center contracts Story Tribe for the entire year. Story Tribe becomes the senior class creative writing program with one performance off campus at the end of the Fall semester and one group performance for graduation.
